The reading section from Persepolis is about a girl named Marjane Satrapi. A very religious girl who wanted to be a prophet. What impressed me about Marjane was her attitude towards the revolution and how she was willing to risk her life to have it succeed. I enjoyed this form of memoir, but if i were instructed to do one in this fashion, id have difficulty cause id have so many illustrations to create! Chute's article was a "yawner" but i realize and completely agree with what she said about how comic books are what novel's used to be: a mass appeal. its exactly this reason that id rather read a comic version of a memoir over a normal memoir. But if i were to author one of my own...id stick with the normal form!

solid blog entry erik! I fully agree with your view on an interesting blog and that review was indeed a "yawner". I really did like the graphic novel idea though

yea great stuff. i cant lie im not to interested in this subject but im sure i'll survive
ok im not quite sure what exactly we are doing but here goes...
1.I believe i have many choices in life, allot more than Satrapi had, she was in a very controlling country and had limited rights. As an american we have way more rights than the citizens of iran have.
2. If i was in Satrapi's position i would leave Iran for good. I would never deal with those kinds of restrictions on my personal life. Especially the stupid head blanket thing.
3.I fully understand freedom has a price, countless people have died to preserve our rights as Americans and i understand the responciblilitiesthat come with it
